From the Acting Superintendents Manse!!!!

I really hope you enjoyed the Easter Season as much as I did. There where a number of highlights and no doubt yours may differ from mine.

Firstly I felt the Easter Craft Day was an ideal way to start the week for me and I think Angie and her helpers did a marvelous job in helping those children who are increasingly a part of us to understanding a Christian Easter.

The Maundy Thursday Passover Meal @ St. James I thought was wonderful and I hope you, like me, learned much about the Christian interpretation of the Jewish Passover meal. So many things clicked into place for me and especially the importance of John the Baptist!

The Good Friday service at Sutton was disappointing in terms of numbers attending but the service at Bransholme I felt was very moving and by everyone being able to contribute meant the personal significance of Jesus’s death came home to us all.

Easter Sunday started with a lovely Communion at Bransholme, all shared together, but probably the highlight of the whole season for me was the life and vitality present in the morning service @ Sutton. Over 100 adults receiving communion on Easter Day, many children sharing too, 7 people confirmed into Membership and the chance to take the Cross of Life out into the World – again to stand safe and communicate God’s Love to the village.

With another 5 people confirmed into Membership at Bransholme two weeks later there is definite signs of  new life in the Church of Christ in our part of the Kingdom. Lets do all we can to help that life grow and not choke it or restrict it in anyway.

For me the Lay Witness Weekend starting on September 28th will be the best way for ALL of us to nurture the new life God is bringing to your Churches, not just new people but new life in those of you who have been worshipping for many years.

PLEASE PLEASE don’t think ‘oh it won’t be my kind of weekend’ or ‘I don’t do that sort of thing’. This is our chance to build on what we have received from God and even if you don’t think you will learn anything new just think what others may learn from you…

If Sutton can get over 100 for Easter Sunday why can’t Sutton & Bransholme get over 100 together for meals; worship; fellowship and discussions? I believe God wants us too and so the only thing to get in the way of God is us!”

But don’t wait until September the chance to serve God through that weekend has already begun and Phil, Elaine and team need YOUR HELP from now…

If you’re excited about the future of the Church then I share your excitement.

God Bless

Keith
