I find it amazing to realise that I have been in the South Holderness Circuit for a year (I moved in the August) and being sent to an appointment is both scary and exciting, so as we welcome Rev Tom and his family into our midst, I hope they settle as well as I have and enjoy being in this part of God’s creation.

We also welcome back Rev Debbie, refreshed and renewed from her Sabbatical!

wonder if you have a Bible verse that you feel is just for you? Mine is Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

As a deacon, that for me is my call, to be alongside people offering a servant ministry, and yet I guess that is your call too, for the servant ministry is the call of all Christians.

You might not have been called to be itinerant or ordained, but Jesus calls each of us to be a servant and witness in his name where we live and work and to be alongside and support those we meet day by day.

So here we are, at the beginning of a new Methodist year with new opportunities for individuals, churches and the Circuit.

We have our Circuit Vision to work through, and every new year comes with new hope and new starts – all given to us by a faithful God, who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

So I offer you a hymn that roots us in the God who calls and saves us.

  1. This, this is the God we adore, our faithful, unchangeable friend, whose love is as great as his power, and neither knows measure nor’end:
  2. ‘Tis Jesus, the first and the last, whose Spirit shall guide us safe home; we’ll praise him for all that is past, and trust him for all that’s to come.

Blessings – Denise

I want to know one thing, the way to heaven; how to land safe on that happy shore. God Himself has condescended to teach the way; for this end He came from Heaven. He hath written it down in a book. Give me that book! At any price give me the Book of God!
